What are the New 2017 Toyota 86 Changes?

2017 Toyota 86

For many years, international drivers have had access to the Toyota 86, but only now is the American market getting a look at the Toyota 86 name and its performance specs. Based on the Scion FR-S, which is being discontinued along with the rest of the Scion lineup, the all-new 2017 Toyota 86 will be quite similar to the model it replaces, including the same platform. There are some exciting and important changes to note, though, so find out more and get ready to check out this performance coupe at Findlay Toyota.

Performance Specs

Like the model it replaces, the 2017 Toyota 86 will get its power from a 2.0L horizontal “boxer” inline-four engine mated to either a six-speed manual or six-speed automatic transmission to deliver power to the rear wheels. From what we know, fine tuning should give the 2017 Toyota 86 a performance boost. While the Scion FR-S got a respectable 200 hp and 151 lb-ft of torque, with the six-speed manual it appears the Toyota 86 will make 205 hp and 156 lb-ft of torque. The Toyota 86 will also deliver more responsive handling thanks to more rigid suspension tuning.

New Design Elements

In most ways, the 2017 Toyota 86 will resemble the Scion FR-S, from its sleek two-door profile to its aggressive, swooping front hood. You’re likely to notice a few styling upgrades, though, including a new bumper, a bigger center intake, and the addition of the Toyota badge to the front grille and in back.
